Cruise ship passenger volumes have once again broken all previous records at the Port of Keelung. To better utilize port facilities and space, the Port of Keelung, TIPC has officially made space available on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Keelung Harbor Building for commercial advertising. Advertisers that apply will be subject to a formal vetting and approval process. The Taiwan branch of international duty-free heavyweight Laox Co., Ltd. was the first to apply to take advantage of the new advertising opportunity.

Laox Taiwan is a branch of Japan Laox Co., Ltd., a multinational firm that mainly operates duty-free retail stores in Japan. In business since 1999, Laox is a recognized name in Japan duty-free, offering items across a wide range of product categories including home appliances, beauty & cosmetics, ‘3C’ consumer electronics, and general home / life products. Laox’s advertisement in the Keelung Harbor Building is expected to raise the company’s local market profile and promote its products as well as to steer more cruise ship passengers into its many outlets.

Laox Taiwan’s advertisements, which were installed at the end of October, have significantly brightened the building’s main hall. Port authorities are currently looking into also installing electronic advertising boards in order to utilize available space even better and to attract even more inquiries from advertisers / agents.
